Cessna 172 For Sale

The Cessna 172, also called the Skyhawk, holds the honor of having the greatest number of aircrafts built. Production started in 1955 and the Cessna 172 is still being produced today. This aircraft has four seats, uses a single engine and has high-wing, fixed-wing.
It is considered the most successful mass produced aircraft in history. By 2008, there have been more than 43,000 Cessna 172s delivered and it is still being manufactured.

Its closest competitors, the Beechcraft Musketeer and the Grumman AA-5 series, are no longer in production. Only the Piper Cherokee and the more recent Diamond DA40 are competing aircrafts that are still in production.

The Cessna 172 started out as a model of the Cessna 170. It featured a tricycle landing gear. It later had its own certification and immediately became a commercial success in it first year building more than 1,400 units in 1956 alone.

The 172 went through some design changes including changes in landing gear and the use of the sweptback tail still in use today. In the mid-1960s, the rear deck was lowered allowing an aft window for more visibility. Cessna called this added rear visibility "Omni-Vision". The only changes after that were in the avionics used and the engines.

The production of the 172s stopped in the mid-1980s but resumed in 1996.
