Cessna 182 For Sale
The Cessna 182, also known as the Skylane, can accommodate four passengers, uses a single engine and is
classified as a light airplane. As an option, two child seats can be installed in the baggage area. It was first
released in 1956 and is considered the second most popular Cessna next only to the Cessna 172.
It's a tricycle gear variant of the Cessna 180. Soon, more powerful engines were used and bigger windows were
installed. Cessna stopped producing light aircraft but resumed doing so in the 1990s. This is because of the change
in the US liability laws. More recently, in 2005, Cessna offered the Garmin glass cockpit as an optional upgrade
for the Cessna 182.
The Skylane is made almost entirely of metal, a bigger portion being aluminum alloy. Fiberglass is also used in
the wingtip and engine cowling nosebowl. The R182 and TR182 variants featured retractable gears. TR182 is the
variant that has turbocharging while the T182 does not. The retractable gears allowed for up to 15% better gas
mileage, up to15% improvement in climb and up to 15% increase in cruise speeds. However, maintenance costs
increased and gear robustness suffered.
